<p class="Paragraph"><help:to-be-embedded Eid="dokzus" xmlns:help="http://openoffice.org/2000/help"><help:help-text value="visible">Choose the <span style="font-weight:bold;">Merge Document</span> command to open a file selection dialog to insert changes made to a document copy into the original.</help:help-text></help:to-be-embedded> All <help:switch select="Program" xmlns:help="http://openoffice.org/2000/help"><help:case select="WRITER">sections</help:case><help:case select="CALC">cell contents</help:case></help:switch> which are identical in both the current and merged documents are displayed once, while parts from both documents shown as changes are visible. Next to the content, information about Author and Date <help:switch select="Program" xmlns:help="http://openoffice.org/2000/help"><help:case select="WRITER">and comments associated to these changes</help:case></help:switch> are accepted.</p>
<p class="Paragraph">In order to successfully merge two documents, they must originate from the same place, the only differences being the changes recorded. In this way you can merge any number of copies into one document.</p>
<p class="Paragraph">Presently, only the main text of a document can be merged with other documents. Text in footnotes, headers, footers, frames and fields are not taken into account.</p>
